Whiting really nails it in the article. It is TOTALLY absurd how much the Japanese media and public revere Nagashima Shigeo while over-looking Oh-san. Nagashima, while a great player and icon, was not half the player Oh was...more proof that racism exists everywhere, unfortunately. a word about Nomura Katsuya, great former catcher who hit 657 home runs and still manages today..(very grumpily, known for calling todays generation of players "fags"...)
