Bluebottle! Dude, you get the prize for that.

Bluebottle was one of many characters that Sellers played in "The Goon Show," Spike Milligan's BBC radio series in the mid Fifites, where Sellers got his start and his early fame. The Beatles were HUGE Goon fans as were the Python gang. The shows are way dated, and take several listenings to get the hang of--Sellers and Milligan played most of the voices and the characters were recurring--but it's a lot of fun.

The script is right out of the Marx bros--bad puns and all, and the sound effects were way ahead of the curve.

always thought his performance in "Being There" is one the best of all time. That film is the anti-Forrest Gump, a film about a simpleton that is deep, intelligent, funny and very dark.

Still nothing will ever top Bluebottle.

The amazing thing about Sellers in Strangelove is that he plays three parts, but it doesn't come off like a stunt. The characters are so distinct that he seems like three different actors. It's very organic and he's great in all three parts.

That said, I do think his scene-stealing in Lolita is overlooked. I need to pick that up on DVD as well as Paths of Glory, since we're talking Kubrick.
