I remember Johnny pretty well. Lumberjack strong... couldn't hit a curveball. At one game I was at, he hit a tremendous shot, a high line drive. The LFer, already playing deep, turned at the crack of the bat, sped to the wall, and caught the ball at the 402 sign.

A bit higher and it was an easy HR, but this was a line shot, curving towards the line. It killed me, because like many hits of the day, this was 15 rows back in any other stadium. Johnny lost more then 1 homer to Death Valley. A 400' Line Drive.

The kid was strong, but clumbsy in the field, and really, not much of a hitter (.262 BA). But man, when he hit them, they made some noise.
