		<description>I dunno, we all thought Duncan, Betemit, Ensberg, and Molina made for a pretty strong bench heading into last year (or at least I did). It just didn&#039;t work out that way. The thing about bench players is that they&#039;re bad by definition, otherwise they wouldn&#039;t be bench players.

Tradiing Matsui for almost anything of value (ideally a C or CF) would be a good move--frees up DH and salary--but I doubt they&#039;d get anything of value for him.</description>

why is it so difficult to assemble a competent bench. You would think that would be the one thing the yankees could ALWAYS excel at - plenty of money should make it easy to get a competent bench</description>
