Angell seems to forgive a lot of the player's faults in his writing, too. There was a bit on Keith Hernandez and cocaine, and it seemed like he didn't even care. Perhaps I just enjoy the format more than anything else. I think I like the first one, The Summer Game the best. I don't enjoy his stuff as much as I once did.
