one of my favorite songs ever. I think the trombone solo by the Specials is what makes their version best for me.

Another good this or that in this same vein is 54-46 was my number - Toots or Sublime? I love them both

[9] See, now you're starting to remind me of Weeping! >;) Soda's the hardcore, acid-washing, colon-cleansing bite your system needs after a mamaburger with fries. When I was just a wee Will, I used to get the same thing from Mickey D's every time: Hamburger. French Fries. Soda. I was not yet indoctrinated to the corpulent delights of shakery (that was my sister Dorothy, sho not only dipped her fries in shakes, but also stacked fries in her burger, something I still do now) I would also carefully pick all of the onion bits off and turn my pickles over to my older brother. The soda (Coke, to be exact) was the capper, the kick. It just never occurred to me until I was in high school that I could have a shake with that combination, and though it certainly is fine, I could never self-consciously do that on a regular basis to my body. (Yeah I know...)

One of my favorite cartoons is "Get Fuzzy" and this particular strip made me burst out laughing while I was on the subway. It was just so random to what was going on at the time, though Bucky was berating Rob's Red Sox fandom in earlier strips a week before. It's that randomness of which I think Haritek's signing...

[5] SO SO Excited to see Tek strike out 16 straight times against CC, AJ and Joba..really, am TOO excited for this, it ain't normal..

[4] Another good subject for "This Or That", and again one in which you can take either one and not be wrong. A lot of R&B and Folk songs have country song roots or originals; the most remarkable in my opinion being Ray Charles' version of "I Can't Stop Loving You", along with James Taylor's "Handy Man" (not really R&B, but you get the picture)...

[3] Well of course, the Specials is still good, but my preference is similar to "burger, fries and soda" versus "burgers, fries and shake". I'll still have 'em both, but I always ordered the soda first...

Two of my favorite un-articulate songs are Louie, Louie and Betty Davis Eyes. Then there's the whole Michael McDonald thing which I like, too >;)

Oh, and [2], a particularly nice aspect this compromise is that neither party is happy. Hm, maybe that's true of most compromises. But I mean, the Sox are plainly doing it only because they have no real alternative, and 'Tek must be trying to convince himself that somehow the option allows him to 'save face'...

Specials for me, for sure.

This reminds me that I *just* discovered that "Red Red WIne" was originally recorded by Neil Diamond.
I haven't gone to find a YouTube of him singing it -- I shudder to think about it. Anybody vouch for Neil's version??

The Red Sox have decided to waste at least 8 million dollars over two years on Jason Varitek.

I just love that those crazy kids worked things out.

Yep, I like Dandy's better; it's played at a slightly lower register and sung slightly more articulately. Not that those qualities make every song better, but they work well for this one.
