I have heard people say Mauer is too big. Not ‘too big’ to field the position, but big guys get worn down at catcher. He missed a lot of games in ’07, and some people said they expected it… of course, he was fine in ’08.

My guess is the concern about Montero is because of his age. He was huge at age 16, and they were presumably expecting him to keep growing (or at least putting on weight).

Wieters is a college boy, and probably not going to grow much more.

I did Shelly would get an early at bat soon. Don’t really know if I want to root for him to make the roster yet; the best he can do here is come off the bench, and if he mashes in Spring do you take that chance when you don’t really have a place to play him in the field? I dunno…

Huh, boy. I'm a big fan of Jorgie, but I seriously wonder if we can rely on him. Catcher is a tough position, he's not getting any younger, and most baseball players never return to their pre-injury level of play after shoulder surgery.
