Off Topic

CC really pitched very well tonight! The Reds are very grateful he's out of their division and in the AL right about now.

The offense could only manage four hits like the Reds though.

Anyone see this?
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2009/03/27/new-stadium-not-tv-friendly/

It looks like the TV camera angles at the new Stadium will suck:
"Word is that the new Stadium is not particularly conducive to television cameras. The camera behind home plate, for instance, will have to shoot through the protective netting. Unlike the steeper old Stadium, there is no position to get a clean shot from that angle.
YES folks also say the camera locations down the lines are not optimal. There is already talk that YES, ESPN and other broadcast entities will request changes"

Yet another un-fan-friendly aspect of new Stadium. But this one should be fixed since there is so much TV money talking. But I wonder who pays for the fix?

I hope the willingness the Yankees are showing to move Jeter out of his preferred spot in the batting order is an indication that they will also be willing to move him out of his preferred position in the field in a year or two.

I truly hope Mr. Sheppard's voice can be heard at Yankee Stadium opening day. His voice is God speaking.

I would think opposing defenses have figured out to play Jeter the opposite way by now. Shouldn't be much of a difference. The only thing I can think of along those lines is Damon is more likely to pull a ball right down the line where the 1B is holding the runner than Jeter is to poke one that way.

I would think that a right-handed opposite field hitter would be more effective in hit-and-run situations than a lefty pull-hitter like Damon. If the runner breaks for second and a righty is at bat, the second baseman will generally move toward second to avoid opening the shortstop hole, and he will thus open the hole behind the runner. But when a lefty is batting, the shortstop will generally cover 2nd.

Jeter at the top of the order makes sense. Though not the prototypical lead-off hitter, he gets on base and is very good from first to third. Damon pulls the ball, still has plenty of pop, and runs well enough that he should be hard to double up.

I like mixing up of R/L & switch in the new order. The Yanks had a similar situation in the late 70's - Rivers usually led off followed by Randolph, but I liked it the other way around.
