[407] Well if you believe this Yankees team isn't a .500 team as of now, you're probably right.

I could be wrong about that though...

Considering Toronto has yet to play a team from the AL East, and everyone else in the division has at least nine such games under their respective belts, I would call them "prepared to play teams not in the AL East." The Yankees are 3-6 in the division... which is the worst among teams not named Toronto, who is 0-0. Boston is 8-2.

Wake me when the Yankees are prepared to win ten in a row...

Boston just did, and seven of those were against teams in their division.

I hope you were prepared for that! The Yankees sure weren't!

They were eleven out of first, behind two teams, and five out of the wild card, also behind two teams. When your playoff chances start depending on late season collapses by multiple teams, I'd say we've moved from realistic shot to hope and pray.

[405] I remember everyone asking what the point of letting Carl Pavano audition for a job was when they decided to call him up. In a lost season everyone would have rather seen some young guys show what they have. That was August 23.

[403] i hope to make it up to Penn State this summer (my alma mater). if so, i'm gonna catch 1 or 2 State College Spikes games. they're Single A NY-PN league. when i'm looking to go, the Staten Island Yankees won't be there and i won't have time to make it over to Scranton. oh well. Spikes games are always fun!

Bottom line for me after that series is, Boston is prepared for the regular season. The Yankees? Not so much...

They are only prepared to get paid.

I was really shocked at how empty the Scranton ballpark was. Yes, it's early in the year, but I went early in the year last year, and no lower deck seats were available. This year, there were plenty. Even though it was the Mets AAA team visting, and Phil Hughes vs. Freddy Garcia.

I think the corporations who used to buy season tickets passed this year. I went to several games last year, from April to August, and there were never any lower deck seats available. This year, I had my pick, including right behind home plate.

[396] Being in the race mathematically and having a realistic shot are two different things.

And Posada's 37. Damon's 35. Matsui is 35. Jeter is 35. Gardner sucks. Melky is probably slightly less sucky. Punting the early parts of the season because a team of the old, hurt, and not very good SHOULD be able to make up for it in August seems unwise.

[398] Despite tickets sold Yankee Mama, I predict games with 20K or less showing up prior to A-Rod's return...

I wouldn't buy a $12 bleacher seat to watch this fiasco!

Of course, although there is plenty of time to sort it out, I have to say, they look like they could use some jou-jou. Boston has it in abundance.

This begs the question, if they somehow continue on this course, will this ulitmately affect the already compromised attendance?

[392] Point was last week the MLB network was all over the "feel good story of the year" and now the Marlins may be playing down to their level.

[391] There wasn't last year due to injuries to Rodriguez, Wang & Posada, and off years from Cano, Cabrera & Jeter. Despite all that they were in the race as late as September.
