[4] I always thought Kaat and his wife were storybook partners. They probably still were, but it does really surprise me that he married so soon after her passing. Good for him though. Kaat always seemed like a guy who was very happy being himself...those kinds of people are always nice to be around.

The irony in Kaat's theory on 7th and 8th inning men is that the Yankee bullpen has actually been pretty good over the last 12 games. The only game that they lost in that span that you can pin on the bullpen is the Sabathia game in Boston, but even that was more the result of Sabathia losing it and Girardi reacting slowly. I also don't pin games like yesterday on the bullpen because a guy like Tomko should never see the light of day in such circumstances.

Too bad a guy like Kaat loses me immediately with the Joba to the pen nonsense. After that I know there's just little else we agree on so why bother?

It's like someone quoting from The Weekly Standard. My brain shuts off immediately because I know theirs already has.

but how the hell do some of these old guys get remarried so quickly?

It's not as difficult as it seems. At that stage, you're already established, and you know what you're looking for in a relationship. Also it's easier to settle down once you're already in that mindset after being married for so many years. It's happened to my uncles, and I've seen it with parents and grandparents of friends and family.

I am happy to say that I was there in attendance. What started off as what I thought would be an exhibition turned competitive towards the end.

Lee Smith showed up late, and showed up in a Giants uniform, which I found to be odd as he never played for the Giants. Speaking of Lee, Bill Lee played a pretty decent RF. I know he's still an active player, just the appearance of a potbellied bearded man in the OF (I swear he looks like Santa Claus from a distance), I find amusing.

I didn't recognize George Foster at first, he still has his power, he turned a couple of pitches around. Even though they were foul, he did a pretty good job with them.

I guess I could tell my great grandchildren that I saw Bob Feller pitch? The crowd seemed to love him, and the feeling appeared to be mutual. Very proud man, I liked that they detailed his military service.
