I’ve long wished for a pet pig. I’m not rich though and I don’t live in DUMBO (though I used work to there and witnessed the most blitkrieg gentrification I’ve ever seen, even beating out the tidal wave of restaurant openings that washed me out of Fifth ave/Carroll St. Truly horrifying/impressive.)

Forgive a native upstater for asking, but its Washington Heights that has a large Dominican population, right? And I pretty sure that’s not part of Brooklyn . . . but if I’m wrong, folks in Brooklyn ought to be pretty happy today, and folks in Washington Heights will definitely be.

Somewhere, Jim Dean ought to be smiling at all these quality young catchers the Yanks keep snagging.

[13] Brooklyn is steeped in swine tradition. The borough featured a thriving pig trade in days of yore. Some of that history can be seen in some Street names. For example, Varkens Hook Road is derived from the Dutch word for Pig, or so I am told.

I really gotta make it out to one of these at some point, alas I shall be knee-deep in $10 Bud in the bleachers tonight (WOOOOO NO WORK TOMORROW!!)

I was actually going back and forth between reading the Pearlman book on Clemens and the i-Team one, settled on the Pearlman one only because I didn’t really wanna spend 400+ pages on Rocket’s needle habits. The Pearlman book at least has interesting non-steroid related material in it.

The Price book sounds good but just so damn depressing.

My brother shared an art studio in Dumbo in mid to late 90s. It had a real old timey urban charm about it. Not even a bodega in the neighborhood. Now, the studios have turned into million-dollar lofts. Last time I was there I saw a dude walking his pet pig. Now you know you are either in a very poor or VERY rich neighborhood when you see a dude walking a pet pig.

[5] Great point on Price…it is a shame that the event has surrounded him by that lineup. Also, now that I think about it, going there to question Roberts would be a waste of time. She has already been discredited. The better reception for her would be if no one asked any questions at all.

Incidentally, the Price book is one that I’ve added to a growing list of recent baseball books that I want to read.
