Otis Redding (check some live clips of him, I still think he doesn’t get his due as one of the greatest performers in all of soul/R&B)

Speaking of “A Great Future Behind Him,” Pedro Martinez the “too brave” signed a one-year, $1M contract with up to $1.5M in incentives in it with the Phillies today. He begins his “comeback” on the 15-day DL with a “shoulder strain” and is expected to be ready in two to three weeks…

[1] Alex – in response to yesterday… yup, Stefon Harris (vibist) is most certainly around! he leads his own group, called Stefon Harris & Blackout, with some of the most outstanding young talent in NYC. he’s got about a half-dozen recent cd’s released on Blue Note Records! i have “Evolution”, from 2004. i don’t love the album, but the talent is undeniable. i briefly knew the amazing drummer, Terreon Gully – he lived here in Atlanta when i first moved to town in the mid-90′s. not longer after, he headed up to NYC and has deservedly been incredibly successful.

Stefon’s cd’s should be easy to find and i’m sure he plays around town regularly. he also has a website, if you’re interested. sooo cool you got to see him live in the early 90′s! he must’ve been pretty young and just getting his career started…
