[3] With what the M’s were asking for Washburn combined with Washburn not being all that good, I’m happy the Yanks didn’t acquire him. He posted the numbers he did despite pitching in Safeco. Could you imagine the numbers he’d put up in New Yankee Stadium?

[3] Melancon was the right choice, but Girardi didn’t go to him until the game was out of reach.

Melancon has much more upside than Aceves, but Girardi has let a couple of months of out of context pitching fool him.

If Hughes would be shifted to the rotation, they wouldn’t need to overpay for Washburn or any other fungible starter.

Yeah, not getting Washburn was a drag. But I heard that wanted A. Jax. Glad the Yanks kept him for now. Still, Cash is gunna have to work some waiver magic.
