[1] These three should be on the Mount Rushmore of comedy. Those who mentioned Bill Hicks should also be commended. All died too young, especially Lenny. How tragic is the image of him on the floor dead.

I also like Louis CK. Chu is here toningt, but I cannot get tickets.

Can’t have too much laughter.

Saw Carlin in Burlington before he died . Arrived late so had to sit in back. His act opener whose name I cannot remember warmed the crowd. He was really funny. Carlin came on and explained to the crowd he was still working out the act. He would do a riff and then amble over to his notes, reading and sometimes writing. Flynn Theatre only 2/3 full. People in this holier than thou area didn’t get it. My wife and I laughed throughout the performance, which by the was much too short, especially at the stuff about the idocy of religion and the lack of joy in parenthood or child raising. Many people didn’t. Some left during the program. I heard people complaining about the language, especially the c_ fart riff. I bet they wrote to complain.

FANTASTIC! I hadn’t heard that riff. George was one of 3 pioneers of modern stand up in America. Lenny. George. Richard. No one else did what they did. You can talk about Sid, Mel, Woody, Red, but those guys changed the game and made room for people like Eddy and Robin and Duddley. Absolutely groundbreaking. Thanks for sharing Alex.

shit sox just evened their road record. they’ve played one fewer game than we have and the Run Diff is only +3, in our favor.

[3] i got your back, bro. i’m petrified to face them. of course, it’d be a lot of fun to beat them – and i think we would – but my insides will be an utter mess.

[2] i’m not fans of comedians and especially not of comedy records. that said, my fusion trio – the one that recently played a reunion gig w/ the Zappa alumnus – did an East Coast tour back in Spring of ’01. as we were leaving Atl, they were playing a Carlin CD. i literally never laughed so hard in my entire life! those two guys still talk about it.

btw, the band TooL turned a hugely amount of people – including me – onto Bill Hicks. it wasn’t for me, but i learned who he was through the band…

[4] buttholz threw a gem tonight. fat liar hit another homer. ramon ramirez gave up 3 outta the ‘pen, but he’s not gonna be seeing anymore important innings next month.

pete abe has tomorrow night’s game listed on TBS, but Cliff doesn’t. anyone know the deal? would be great if it’s on tv tomorrow – i don’t have a gig, so i can watch…

[3] Did you see (or check out post hoc) Beckett last night? He did hold the Royals to two runs over six innings, but twelve hits. Not scary at the moment. The bullpen is not very reliable either (though I do think Wagner was a good pick-up). I’m more impressed by Lester and Buchholz.
But look at the big picture. The Sox are giving up 4.44 runs/game, our guys are giving up 4.69. A quarter of a run per game separates the pitching staffs. This is not exactly an overwhelming advantage.
It should be a good match-up. I hope it happens!

Not to be a negative Nancy but..am I the only one very worried about playing the Red Sox in the playoffs? Bekcett, Lester, Bucholz, Dice-K, Wagner, Bard, Saito, Okajima, Papelbon…that is a staff that can bring home the bacon…

Like others no the Banter, I will need two gallons of Pepto-Bismol to get my stomach through the playoffs.. and I will be watching in the mornings so can’t even get on the Guinness!
