"I’m still not there yet, at least not fully. I’m content to soak up the great 2009 season for the Yanks. "

Yup. I haven't been around the last week or so. I guess I just want some time off and soak up the Yankees world championship.

[9] They'd be banking on a lot of things at once then. This is not the Knicks, after all...

Chyll, I hesitated adding one of the catchers to that bit of speculation, but I further speculated that the Yanks might be in on the Mauer Express.

I've definitely moved on, but I have a new outlook. I love the comfort of just having won when talking about next year(s) ... There's no desperation.

I have to wonder why the Yankees aren't going after starting pitching, when they're a bit thin in that department. And I figure it's for a similar reason: lack of desperation.

[5] That may not be as crazy as you think. But I hope it's not Montero if they do pull that one off. How do yo let go of a hitter like that after all you've gone through the last thirty years? You do what you can to get that bat in the lineup, like KC with Butler.

[3] That's not the same, Area 51; you know that >;)

I laughed at how eager the talk media was to move past the Yankees winning the Serious; they can never admit they were wrong. Laughed at the front runners wearing Yankee stuff head-to-toe, as they would have certainly been decked out in Philly gear if they won in a hot minute. Didn't bother to read much of the printed articles that were likely K&CYA-type analyses of the series and entire season. Still couldn't afford to buy a jacket, but I got a couple of tees I will personalize (if you ever run into a guy wearing a WS champs t-shirt with something crazy on the back, guess who?) Missed the parade because I was sitting in a crafty van for work in front of Trump Tower for five weeks(insert Muttley imitation here)...

Just trying to enjoy it as much as I can, though it did evoke some deep-seated emotions on my part. All-in-all, I think this is pretty much what we expected for 2009 some years ago. But I'm glad we were right! >;)

Verlander will not get locked up by Detroit in the offseason in my opinion. He's going to be looking for $20 million per season after his 2009 and I think that's going to be his best season. That and the Tigers probably don't have much to spend in that economy.

"I don’t want it to end just yet, but with each passing day, it slips away some more."
only until that dvd comes out, then we can bask some more.

well I'll kick it off, via MLBTR:

The team obviously wants to keep Justin Verlander around for a long time, but Dombrowski wouldn't comment about the possibility of locking him up to a long-term deal. "I won't get into that because that is best kept internal," he said. Verlander can become a free agent after the 2011 season.

Get ready for the next Johan/Halladay soap opera everybody!
