[14] washington did a solid job this year. and he was really close to the chopping block not that long ago – i think the summer of 2008

heyman has a lot of trade rumors going – notably halladay with the yanks or red sox
and i hope and pray that bronson arroyo get traded somewhere that will prevent us from hearing ANY more trade rumors with the words arroyo and yankees in the same sentence

oh and can someone please tell me why the heinken you say he is just a friend commercial is back – i thought that commercial was out of the rotation

[9] I would have voted for Washington. Not only did the Rangers outperform in general, but I think Washington’s management of his pitching staff really made a difference. Even though Ryan has pretty much given Washington a mandate, he still had to implement the organization’s plan to push their pitchers a little more. So, if you believe that helped the team have a solid season, Washington deserves a lot of credit.

somehow the knicks won tonight. they are really AWFUL. STILL. and i don’t think they are anywhere near to being even mediocre. again they missed on the draft by not getting jennings.
i am watching the spurs/mavs and they just showed a stat about all the ny area teams and how many wins they have in november, and the yankees have as many or more than the knicks, nets, giants, and jets (there might have been hockey but don’t know about that hockey stuff)

I was at one of those games in ’07, and yeah they were terrible…but ya know, the Pirates.

[6] When I saw the Pirates at the Stadium in 2007, they appeared to be one of the most poorly coached teams in baseball. Now I don’t know how much of that falls on Tracy and how much is just that they were the Pirates, but I could see this taking a nosedive.

Instead of a torn testicle crisis, Scioscia counseled his players grieving from Adenhart’s death. I would think that’s a real vote getter.

That said, I like Wakamatsu and I shudder to think what a ttc must have been like for Beltre. Of course, there is only one way to counsel a player in that situation, “Wear an effin cup, you moron!”

[1] I think I would have voted for Wakamatsu, too. Beltre’s situation is just horrifying to think about it.

I’m not sure that Scioscia did anything that Girardi and Francona didn’t, but I guess someone has to win. This is really my least favorite award.

no problem with scioscia winning, but i also don’t care even a little. i do think he’s overrated though.

I think it should have gone to Wakamatsu. 86 wins with half his lineup consisting of AAAA hitters, a patchwork bullpen, and lots of other problems. Plus, he counseled Beltre through his torn testicle crisis.
