I don't really expect our #24 and #25 guys to be particularly good, and have less expectations of our #26 and down. In the past, if a totally average guy had 1 or 2 good years, then George had to have him. It seems to me we have a history of buying high. Now, with the likes of Swisher and Granderson, it seems Cashman is getting smart and buying low. Mitre fits this mode (not comparing him as a talent to S and G). He costs nothing and most probably could be better then his history indicates. I'll discount last year as his TJ surgery year. I'd like to see what he can do now. At worst, he could always be traded to KC for a bucket of balls. One of the reasons I absolutely loved Aceves last year was that while he could go two or three innings if need be, he wasn't going to give up six runs in that span. he gave the team a chance If Mitre can be the Aceves/Mendoza guy this year, more power to him.
