[150] Well-said, Alex. Look, let’s be honest, Spielberg’s reputation among “serious” film fans has been hurt by the fact that he makes hugely popular movies. Do I think he’s in the Pantheon? No, I don’t – but he’s an immensely gifted director with a long and varied career who has been responsible for some truly wonderful and unique moments at the movies. Sure, he’s made more than his share of stuff that didn’t work (I’ve actively loathed some of his stuff), but he’s also remarkably prolific.
