[7] On YES last night, in the post-game, they said Burnett has never had so many bad games in a row. He was always inconsistent, but nothing as consistently bad as this.

Dunno if that’s correct, but that’s what they said.

[7] When Mike Harkey went out to the mound at one point last night, I was wondering if Eiland’s absence might have something to do with the mess that Burnett’s in. Burnett’s troubles bother me precisely because he could be so good. As he is now, he just pisses me off.

Didn’t Burnett go through a similar bad month last year, where he had 5 or 6 real clunkers in a row? I know its not good, but I just can’t get worked up about it. The Yanks have had lots of things go not so well, and yet they are still in first place (and the run differentials suggest they are in great shape the rest of the way).

LoHud has an interesting piece up now, that Burnett “misses” Eiland. I suppose that’s a possibility . . .

It seems like Burnett hasn’t had an effective curveball all year. Earlier he got by without it, but now he can’t.

I remember O’Neil saying over and over, how he sat on the fastball, and just hoped he could fight everything else off.

It seems to me, with a team full of big boppers, the league just throws us anything but fastballs. Does Teix and ARod just sit on the fastball? Do our good hitters look silly on offspeed stuff?

Should we instead be LOOKING for offspeed stuff?

Apparently worried about walking Upton, Park instead called timeout and ran into the dugout. He returned with a batter’s tee, set it down on home plate, placed the ball on the tee, and got out of the way. Upton deposited the ball 408 feet away in the left field stands, and the game was over.

This made me laugh and cry simultaneously…beautiful! よく出来ました！
