[5, 6, 7] I remember hearing somewhere that he once said he would take any role because he wanted to break some kind of record for screen credits, which is totally something Nic Cage would do.

[6] I'm pretty certain his choice of questionable roles began well before his recent financial troubles though. I think it's just who he is.

[5]

Cage's financial troubles have resulted in him signing on for seemingly every movie out there ... quality seems a secondary concern.

Nicolas Cage has to be the best combination of famous actor/really bad actor out there. Is there anyone else who is as well known but really is a crappy actor as he is? Maybe it's the roles he's been taking lately, but man some of his dialogue and acting make you embarrassed for him.

I was not a comic book geek when I was a kid, but I always had a few that I read over and over again. One was "Ghost Rider". So of course I was kinda curious/anxious to see the movie. Nicolas Cage just made the movie unwatchable. Alex and others have asked what movies we have walked out of. I didn't catch it in the theater, but I didn't make it halfway through the DVD. I was pissed that I wasted a NetFlix rental on such dreck. Bad bad bad.

Nicolas Cage as a love interest, boyfriend, loser, sort of soft wimpy guy (Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Moonstruck, It Could Happen to You). Yeah. Good stuff, and some good rolls. He's believable. Nick Cage as macho action hero? Too bad for words.

[1]

Yeah ... there are some truly AWFUL lines, and a few brilliant lines .... like Poe seeing the car being "towed" by the plane and saying "on any other day I'd find that strange"

and of course, Buscemi gets nearly all the best lines ....

It's currently available on Netflix as an Instant streaming title. My girlfriend caught me watching it the other day. Porn would have been less embarrassing.

I love the awful dialogue between Cage and Mykelti Williamson right before that last clip you embedded.

Baby O: All I can think about is like... there ain't no God, like he don't exist.
[Poe gets up and starts walking away]
Baby O: Hey! Where you going?
Cameron Poe: I'm going to show you God does exist.
