I’ll admit I was ready to fade out; I was beginning to think the comments were becoming too shrill and condescending, or maybe it was me. But there’s a dedicated bunch here I’ve gotten used to reading every day and I couldn’t let you guys down like that (even if that would mean zilch), so I’m here for better or for worse. I might have relayed a similar sentiment when I first signed in… meh, maybe one day someone will make me an offer I can’t refuse either >;)

[268] Evil, I loved the post. You have no idea how much glee I took from the mental image you created. I’ve hated Miller for a long time, but I wasn’t certain he was irredeemably awful – last Sunday night, though? He was a horrifying embarrassment from pillar to post. Good for him that he has that great announcer’s voice, but doing no work before a game and saying idiotic crap for nine innings is inexcusable.

A lot of the posters were the same. I don’t know, maybe we’ve all mellowed, or run out of things to type, or gotten older and don’t want to waste three hours every night online. Or maybe after the Yankees won the WS last season, all that built up frustration over Cashman or Torre or Cairo or Andy Phillips or David Ortiz or whatever finally deflated. Or maybe it’s just my imagination.

In any case, tonight reminded me of a good, old fashioned Banter evening.

Also, this may have been mentioned (off to read the end of the thread, as I went banter free for the whole 9th), but Thames’ monster shot scared the crap out of Francisco. It didn’t pay off, but that guy didn’t want to throw a strike after Thames crushed that one.

You could wait all season to get the opportunity to recap a game like this one.

That was one of the more exciting games I can remember. Pure, utter happiness – that’s what was going on in this living room, as A Rod’s throw sailed across the diamond and into Swisher’s mitt.

I said to myself before the bottom of the 9th, “please, any which way, I don’t care, just please somehow get through this.”
