[16] I live in LA.

Only time I saw a game in the new park was back when it was Pac Bell.

This game:

Was a hell of a good time, even though the Giants lost.

[14] I wasn't insinuating anything about what you were thinking. All good. And...let's go GIANTS!

With that starting rotation, they might just shut down the Phils. Do you live near SF? I did live there when they opened the new park in the late 90's and went to the opening game. There is no better view in MLB then from the upper decks at AT&T (it was PacBell then). Much better than Candlestick, where we had to wear winter clothes in July to see night games. With the howling raw foggy winds, conditions were the most miserable in baseball. Just five miles away, AT&T Park is calm and balmy at night.

At this point I am just rooting for any series to be extended: I'd rather have games than a week of off-days. Baseball's decision to drag out the playoff schedule is insufferable.

[13] Oh, I wasn't *not* pulling for Melky, I just knew, deep down, what the outcome was going to be. Though you're right, a true Hacky at bat would have involved him rolling over an outside pitch and grounding out to 2nd.

But, GO GIANTS!

If, by some miracle they beat the Phillies and the Yankees advance, I'm totally going to SF to see a WS game, which I've never done before.

[11] Ah, up to Melky. My secondary team are the Giants (and we're half way to a dream WS for me). But, I had to pull for Melky there. I'm glad he at least had a representative AB, and grounded down the third base line. Better than a weak dribbler, or a strike three swing on one in the dirt. We all loved Melky at one time or another.

Bobby Cox, what a baseball career for the ages. He always was on point, and his statements were direct and salient. I'm glad he got to win one WS, because his team almost always was second best. The Braves must have come in first 12-15 times in the division, but could not win the final series. How long would he have survived as Yankee manager? Yogi knows that answer.

A Yankee who played with both Mantle and Munson. He'll be missed at the game.

[10] Good ol' Hacky, some things never change.

What was funny was in the gamethread over at BBTF, this was the simultaneous reaction to Melky being introduced as the PH:

<blockquote>
261. Latnam's first name is Bob Lemon's middle name.
Posted: October 11, 2010 at 10:32 PM (#3661799)
Words I never want to hear: "That'll leave it up to Melky Cabrera."

262. Good cripple hitter
Posted: October 11, 2010 at 10:32 PM (#3661800)
"And that will leave it up to Melky Cabrera" is the saddest of all possible sentences.

".. and that will leave it up to Melky Cabrera."
Just what every Braves fan wants to hear.

Does anybody find it odd that this information comes from the GM? Shouldn't it be coming from the manager, Girardi?

Burnett in Game Four is no big surprise, but I don't see him getting a long leash. If the Yankee bullpen is well-rested for that game, Burnett might come out during the first rally.
