		<description>[2] That&#039;s a fair point. Also, I love Carpenter&#039;s take on The Thing. Again, Carpenter was such a fan of both the original story and the 1951 film, like Kaufman loved Siegel&#039;s film. 

Now, Tim Burton&#039;s Plant of the Apes, that sucked beyond words.</description>

		<description>I give remakes more wiggle room if there is another source involved that preceded the original, like this movie and John Carpenter&#039;s The Thing, for example. In some of these cases, I&#039;d even say it&#039;s not really a remake, if it hews closer to the source material, or interprets it in a different way without too much influence from the first film.

Also, some stories warrant an update as time goes on because of how they might reflect on the world in a new way (or vice versa). Remaking something like A Nightmare on Elm Street I don&#039;t really see as having much value as it&#039;s kind of a timeless concept as is.</description>
