		<description>I don&#039;t watch other SS enough to have a strong opinion, but the complex defensive metrics seem unreliable when you look at their variability across a season.

When everyone makes jokes about Jeter&#039;s defense, why does he get no credit for the lack errors (and the high field percentage)? Do we think this stat is basically the equivalent of a non-starter win? Just the scorer&#039;s discretion? Why does carry so well across all the parks (and scorers)?

Jeter played about as many innings as everyone else but had 1/3 the average number of errors 7 versus 20. Why doesn&#039;t that at least stifle the chuckle response?
