Even though Keith ceded his share of control of the band during the mid 70s, he's definitely not a #2. In fact, I thought a lot of the tension between Jagger & Richards was that after Keith kicked smack, he reappeared, ready to reclaim his share of the throne and Jagger was more than a little peeved.

[3] No, Page is clearly #1 in Led Zepelin, that was HIS band. Stones became Jagger's band because of Keith's drug problems...and for all the bitching going on about Mick, none of the guys in the band are turning down their share of the $100 million...

I don't see Keith as a #2. I mean, is Jimmy Page the #2 in Led Zeppelin? I don't think so.

Yeah, his voice in the book is cool, very readable. The stuff about his childhood is good and he's got some great insights about the making of some of the records and about songwriting and producing in general. But a lot of it is full of shit. Not in an offensive way, just an oblivious, flip, self-absorbed rocker kind of way. Great airplane read--if you can lug it around--or something to take out of the library. Unless you are a Stones freak, it might be too much of a doorstop to keep around.

Great album, my favorite by the Stones.

Not going to read the Keef book..can't help thinking he's always been over-rated..I guess the #2 in any band always will be the "cooler" one.
