P.S. Re: the BJ Abstracts, I have all the nationally published copies — 82-88. I got the first one when I was 11; it changed my life. I was already a huge baseball fan, but the Abstracts helped me to appreciate the game so much more. Perhaps more importantly, they also taught me how to be a good writer, and how to be a good scientist — lessons that remain valuable to me to this day.

Emma, love your writing. One quibble: the managers section isn’t new; the Handbook has been running managerial stats for some time now. See, e.g., some work I did on managers stats at the URL below, which used data from the managers section of the Handbook:

During one of my many moves I got rid of the 4-5 annual Baseball Abstracts. Still kicking myself over that.

See Emma, you’ve got it wrong. Today I drove from the storm (which hit Virginia Sat night – Mon morn.) to Toledo. Drive away from the storm, not towards it. But it’s frakking cold here.

BTW, did any of Cy Young’s managers get criticized for over using him, leaving him in a game too long?
