Of the Yankee announcers today, the only one who comes close to him, in terms of having both good broadcasting technique and a consistently rational voice, is Ken Singleton. He was professional, intelligent, and amusing, and he could keep Phil Rizzuto from floating off into the stratosphere, at least sometimes. I those days, I didn't have anything to compare the Yankee team to except the network guys, and White was better than all of them. "Deeeeep to left. Yasrzemski...will not get it, it's a home run!"
