I’ve read a bunch of his game recaps from the mid-70s and they shine. Great newspaper reporter.

I disliked Gammons and his biased reporting for a long time, but I lost all respect I had for him a few years back when he went on national television and told a flat out bald-faced lie about Josh Beckett’s blisters. Anyone with a shred of dignity would have refused to say “defective baseball” in front of his family, let alone the ESPN game of the week. I find it impossible to take anything he says seriously any more.

i’ve heard uncle peter play the guitar. it’s god awful. i dug him several years ago, then he became insufferable when the s**t sox got good. i don’t read/follow him at all anymore…
