[1] Dude, you're in New York. Stop whining.
I'm going to Pittsburgh.
Actually, I like Pittsburgh, so I won't whine either.

well, spring isn't quite here. it was there, however. on Wed, i woke up at home (Atlanta) to a glorious spring day. it was like 80 degrees, sunny, no humidity, no wind, just perfect.

then i flew to NY. by the time i went to bed, at my parents house, it was friggin' snowing out. jeesh...

oh, and Alex - i forgot to mention for the BOTD posts... Joe Morello just died about a week and a half ago. he was the incredible drumming legend for Dave Brubeck. you should maybe post a video of "Take 5," with a fantastic Morello drum solo...

Joe was one of the last living legends. He was also hilarious. even though he was blind, he had album covers of him sitting on a motorcycle! his clinics were half comedy, half drums. he was a Jersey and taught my Jazz teacher, back in the day. he and Jim Chapin were carriers of the Moeller technique, studying with both Sandford Moeller and George Lawrence Stone.

i didn't get to study with Joe or Jim, but i've met them both and did some playing on a drum pad with them. i studied for years with each of their prized pupils. i feel so fortunate to have learned one generation from these guys. something the benefits of growing up in NY provided me.

we lost a very very very important drum legend. Morello was 82.

Roy Haynes, is pretty much the last one alive...
