The question of Ruth's DNA has always been intriguing, but I am confident (hopeful) that it doesn't matter any more. If he had African blood—fantastic. If he didn't—that's OK, too. What difference does it make? Those of us who are pre-1700 Americans (that's me) have our stories and documents of Native American blood and wonders about African blood. And that's what makes America fascinating. The melting goes on and hopefully so does the compassion.
