[4] Parts are. Comerica is, as is the new Ford Field. But they are surrounded by empty buildings. Driving up there, you see skyline that looks like WWII era Europe. Detroit has lost 1/2 of its population since the 1950s. Lots of empty space. And they've been tearing down some of the empty buildings.

[7] Wow... the Halos actually pull out a nail biter. Anyone notice that Beckett was pulled after 4.1 IP, even though he was pitching lights out? (0 R, 1 H, 3 BB)?

What was ARod's injury? He was only out 4 days. He looks like shit now, and frankly, we can't carry both Jeter and Po (.580 and .660 OPS) without ARod raking. Swisher is actually between those 2 (.645 OPS), but I have faith that's temporary, and we don't have an immediate replacement for him.

Honestly, does anyone believe that Nunez and Montero/Chavez wouldn't give us a better lineup? We can absorb financial loses, but not on-the-field loses.

Out last 6 weeks schedule is not in our favor. Throwing away early games is not a good idea.

At least Posada has a few RBI, but Jeter is killing us. Are the hero worshippers here really willing to lose the Division?

You can give the Halos some credit for last night, Alex. Or if you'd rather, you can give it all to Daisuke, whose career as a reliever began and ended last night. Or this morning.

[3] I'll go ahead and follow the trail of the predetermined outcome into the rabbit hole immediately after a loss, even though I know better.

Arod doesn't swing at ball 4, he walks, Cano saw 5 pitches, were any of them strikes? Bases loaded for Swisher, pitching change, and then we see what happens with Mr 3 days in a row. Probably still a loss, but at least there would at least one chance to tie w/ a granny, maybe 3 chances.

At any rate, no fo-sho DP since that pitcher would have been gone after loading the bases.

[1] Funny you should mention that. My sister just went there as part of trip to visit our niece, who just graduated from college. She raved about downtown Detroit. Said it was beautiful...and she's from the OC, where everything is clean and perky. This wasn't Eminem's 8 Mile, mind you, but apparently the downtown had been revitalized.

Then Nick would have still hit into a dp.

Funny how when Alex was ahead 3-1, nobody out, man on first, and it seemed like optimism was in the air...and then...

I liked how if Arod and Cano had just kept the bat on their shoulders, they would have had bases loaded and nobody out. They're in the shower still looking for the fastball in the soap dish or something.
