Shane Spencer. It was when he was batting about .800 or something with every other hit being a home run. A fly ball when out to him in the field, he didn't move, and it dropped in front of him. Somebody yelled out something like 'Hey Spencer, you field like your statue'. That was a good time.

By the way, these 2 have an OPS+ of 62 and 67. For comparison, our underpeforming, Gritty LFer, he of great speed and elite defense, has an OPS+ of 105.

On Jeter:
Looking at MLB SSs, middle of the pack is about a .675 OPS. Of course, considering Jeter's D, with a .675 OPS, he would still be well less then an 'average' SS. I read an analysis that said due to lack of range, Jeter gives up 50-100 BHs that an avg-to-elite SS gets to. So if Jeter allows an extra 60 BHs, is this that much different, run-wise, then making 50 errors?

If Jeter isn't up to a ,675 OPS by the end of the month, I play Nunez.

On Posada:
Well... at least we don't have to worry about his D. Realistically, you want at least an .800 OPS from a DH. I mean, a DH should be a big bat, yes? And I think Jesus is likely to have an .800 OPS. The problem is, if Po doesn't DH everyday, he is basically retired... used as a BP coach and mentor to Jesus. With his .611 OPS, he is easily the worst DH in baseball. If he isn't over .700 by the end of May, you have to go to Jesus.

We are in a dogfight for the PS. Even the WC isn't given. Will the Yankees punt on the PS to sooth a few egos?

Posada's BABIP is .133, which is preposterously unlucky. They would be morons to sit him right now.

I'd say the worst Yankee defender would be anyone who defended the decision to put Tony Womack in left. He may not have been the worst Yankee ever to field the position, but as a hitter he had to be among the all-time worst corner outfielders.

Worst defender - a second baseman who couldn't make the throw to first!

The Yankees need to send Nunez back to Scranton to play every day and bring Vazquez up with Pena.
