[0] Last night was effin painful. I got so frustrated after we failed to even get a baserunner in the bottom of the second that I got up and ripped a dead tree out of my front yard. Felt good. Reminds me of the old Clash line about using your anger productively. And thanks for sparing us the excruciating details -- no need to apologize.

[1] I thought it particularly interesting that in the NYT article about the surgery, :'s physician is quoted as saying that he would definitely use HGH on a regular person as part of this surgery (presumably because it is such an effective tool in aiding recovery) but never on an athlete. Dumb.

Nova was due for a stinker. And this was the Yankees first series loss, so I can't feel too bad, except for the crappy defense.

Red Sox this weekend, and a full pitcher of lemonade in the fridge.

That's terrible that he was booed like that. Sometimes the impatience of Yankee fans is just too much. Give the kid a ****ing break.

Yeah, that was so no awesome. I was there and was letdown that Nova was booed so loudly.

Agreed on Alex, though he did put a couple of good swings on the ball last night, maybe a sign...

An ugly, ugly game last night. If Cano's error turns into a DP, Nova's 4 ERs turn into what? 2?

I've said this many times. As good as our lineup is, we NEED ARod to rake in order to Win.

Agree, Boatzilla.
Did you see that Bryce Harper just got corrective lenses? His optometrist (or opt-something) was shocked at how bad Bryce's vision was. Increased his SLG by two hundred points. I assume nobody is going to complain -- because so many ordinary humans have contact lenses? I dunno.

Funny and pithy, Emma, as usual. Thanks.

Regarding the human punctuation mark (:), why is everything that helps a player forge on, now suspect? Maybe 25 years ago (given today's suspicions) they would be been investigating Tommy John surgery. That's tongue in cheek, but 50 years ago they didn't even know what was wrong with Mantle's knee nor how to fix it, and because of that he played on with a damaged body.

Perhaps there is no longer a clear line between cutting-edge corrective surgery, which may improve the original body, and what everyone calls "cheating" with PHDs. However, if the substance or procedure is not officially banned, it should not be suspect to investigation, IMHO.

Otherwise, every time someone makes a remarkable come-back the FBI, Congress or Bud Siegheil are going to ruin the joy of it for us.
