[4] I will, thanks!
Have you read Blood, Bones, and Butter? It's one of the best foody books I have ever read. Damn. (The author's divorced mother also moves to Vermont.)

3) He's SO dorky. But has enough of a sense of humor that he can laugh at himself.

2) My mom lives just outside of Middlebury. Good book store there called MONROE STREET BOOKS. Make sure to check it out next time you are around.

[2] I agree -- it might have something to do with the urgency of summer in Vermont. Vermonters really make the most out of what nature offers. (I'm fond of the Cook's Illustrated editor Christopher Kimball, even though, or maybe because, he's so dorky.)

I like strawberry rhubarb jam, but my problem is always that I like strawberries much more than I like anything you can make out of them. Especially this time of year. They are sublime, ambrosiac, elysian, heavenly. And the fact that in every basket there are a couple of strawbs that are lousy just adds to the perfection of the whole experience.

My wife (orig. from Vermont) informed me this morning that she *needed* to make something with strawberries and rhubarb. Soon. I like this jam idea.
