[16] forget Mitre, I think/hope he’s not in the rotation plan. I just think Garcia is useful, and if he can spare the pen, and the rest of the rotation a few innings, why not adjust the schedule to accommodate him?
As for Nova, wouldn’t you agree there’s a huge difference between working in Scranton, and sticking with the Yankees for the pennant run? That’s what I mean by hampering his development. AAA innings are wasted innings for Nova at this point – not that you’re suggesting this.

[15] If CC needs some extra rest, why not just skip him once, or push him back once and awhile. No need to institute a full blown six man rotation for that.

I wouldn’t send down Nova. That said, I can’t believe that sending him down to AAA would really hamper his development, if that was needed to keep precious Garcia and Mitre on the roster.

[14] an extra day or so of rest for CC and Colon shouldn’t hurt them, or the team. It preserves them a little more for the playoff run. CC’s a horse, but he did have knee surgery over the winter, and Colon could certainly use the extra day between starts, no?
I think Garcia’s still a useful starter, but I wouldn’t go to six men to accommodate Mitre, mind you.
Plus, why send down Nova, and hamper his development?

Why would the team want to go to a six man rotation, i.e. less CC and Colon, for the purpose of saving a mediocrity like Garcia (or, God forbid, work Mitre into the rotation)?

Assuming everyone else is doing their job, I would simply get rid of Garcia if he won’t go to the pen. Or, if Garcia absolutely must be on the roster, then send down Nova (who has options).

The Joba and Mitre rules will pale in comparison to the Jesus rules. Once called up he won’t be able to catch more than 30 2/3 innings per week, catch on back to back days, use anything other than yellow white out on his finger tips, squat more than 36 seconds in a row, or give AJ the #2 sign.

7) did you discard your copy of the Mitre Rules thinking he was gone for good?
The main reason we keep using him is to see how our hitters react to sudden 5-run defecits, and 500 degree spikes in field temperature after he gets lit.

[0] I’m curious, when Hughes comes back, who gets bumped from the rotation?

I predict that they will find within a week or two an excuse to move Hughes into the EIGHTH INNING GUY spot.

I also predict that Mitre starts 10 games by the end of the year.

I don’t think a six man rotation is a terrible idea to try for the dog days of July, and August. Best to keep them all working as starters at this point, if you ask me. In mid Sept. you figure out your postseason rotation,. If all six are still standing at that point, I’d say Hughes, and Colon go to the pen, and prepare for long/middle relief in Oct.

i am going to the game saturday, so i’m happy that it seems it is going to be fartolo for the yanks instead of brian gordon.

actually a bit of a conundrum here.
the yanks have so far handled nova in a way i think they should have handles hughes and joba and i hope they don’t start messing with him now.
does he have innings limits this year?

i do wish we were in a fantasy world where they would move aj to the pen. but it might end up being freddy – how long can he keep throwing slop up there?

not going to be much room for hughes to come back and struggle though.
