Alabama Hammer….I like it. Who came up with that? It’s a good nickname for Robertson (I also like the variation “Bama Hama” or maybe just “Bama Hammer”.
For the record, the state bird down here is the Yellowhammer. Also, the Crimson Tide fans do a cheer at the football games that ends with “Rammer Jammer, Yellowhammer, give ‘em hell Alabama”

[0] I was in Hermosa Beach last weekend too, stayed at the Beach House right on the strand. Nice to be back in the hood, having lived there for 10 years. Not too much has changed, though Pier Ave has gotten a bit of a face lift. All good.

[3] I think I’m probably coming late to this, but the Alabama Hammer? That has to be just about the sweetest nickname I’ve ever heard. I think there’s still a shot he gets in. All-Stars will begin dropping like flies in the next few days, so there may be a spot or two opening up on the roster.

CC wouldn’t have pitched anyway, so I’m not too displeased about his non-selection, but the Alabama Hammer isn’t going to have nearly the chances to get to go to an ASG and he really deserves the chance this year.

I’m not mad about CC and Robertson not playing on the All Star squad. They are the best and most reliable arms on the Yanks not named Mo, so it’s less wear and tear on our staff in the long run. Sure, it would have been nice if they were voted on, but that’s insignificant to their role on the Yanks and their ultimate goal. It’s a relief, actually.

Meanwhile, I think tonite’s game would have been a lot different if Carlos Santana hadn’t dropped the relay throw at 1st on Frankie Futility’s sure-thing double-play grounder in the 2nd.
