I've always found it odd how often writers romanticize about alcohol, but I guess that's because I am not a drinker. I wonder how many of the stories are an exaggeration though? Regardless, the tales of excessive drinking seem to be more about loneliness than anything else, which I guess is to be expected from people who spend so much time with their own words.
