[8] I guess I was a little harsh on poor Janice. I posted that before lunch when the threat of someone spitting on my burger seemed like the most hostile gesture I could think of.

Down here in Alabama, obviously the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry doesn't carry much weight (people are much to absorbed with the Alabama-Auburn rivalry to even think about a baseball rivalry). But every now and then when I'm out in public with my Yankee cap on I will get some strange looks (mostly from Braves fans who still haven't recovered from those two Serious spankings). Sometimes I will even see someone in a Boston cap and they give me that look that tells me they are thinking "Yankees suck!". I usually just give them a big smile which is my way of saying "We don't worry about you guys near as much as you guys worry about us..." But recently I actually ran into a guy who really "took the cake"...the first thing I noticed was his Sox cap (and his smug look, which he had obviously been practicing since 2004 and had just about gotten it down pat). Then I looked down at his ugly bright orange t-shirt...it said in big blue letters: "AUBURN TIGERS". I thought I had just stepped into a sports "Bizarro World".

[7] That's one cold laser of truth for Janice.

Since the Sox won the WS twice in recent history, RSN no longer has an identity as the snake bit foil of the AL. They're just fans of a contender. They no longer know humility just hubris. And that brings out the worst in them.

I see enough Boston hats around here...I don't see the venom displayed to them like Janice to you. Boston is a nice small town. If it wasn't for the universities attracting people from all over the world, it would be Cleveland with chowder. Go to South Boston, you'll see what I'm saying.

I'm just hoping the Yankee hitters use that miserable little bandbox to their advantage this weekend.

As for fans like Janice, they really are the bottom of the barrel. Rude spiteful little thing wasn't raised to be respectful, and lacks the social graces, or brain capacity to exhibit a sense of humor. Probably on her way to becoming a useless person, regardless of her affiliation. Pity the fool.

[5] Oh! The "ten wins and three losses" is what threw me, since that's exactly their record in the past two weeks.

Hm, the pitchers for the series don't match up quite the way I would have liked. Sabathia against Lackey, we'd better win that one! Lester-Colon, Beckett-Garcia. The last favors Boston, for sure, and the other favors them a bit, I'd say. It would be very cool to snag the first game tonight against Lester.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Then Lucchino said, "We don't spend money on free agents with any sort of frequency or regularity the way some East teams do. We rely primarily on homegrown players and the players we trade for."

ohmygod, ohmygod...must breathe. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I can dig ribbing between fans, but don't make it personal. There's always a line to be respected.

I was working in Boston when the Yankees acquired Roger Clemens. Just after the trade, I went to a Bruins game, and at some point, walked to the concession for a beer. After I handed the cashier my NY license, he paused for a moment, handed it back and said something to the effect of "I don't sell beer to people from New York". At first I smiled, thinking he was joking, but then he followed up with, "You have Roger Clemens. You don't need a beer."

He was exactly right.

Heh, you're right, Jon, there are far fewer Janices than there used to be in the smallest nation.

But what's this?

and the Red Sox have only ceded a small part of their lead during the Yanks hot streak.

By what standard can all be considered a small part??
