[18] Smart move - I may try that way next time. I think it took us about 2.5 hours from Newburgh.

[17] Harsh and staticy.

I bailed off the Thruway at the I84/Newburgh exit and crossed over to the Taconic. No problems, and was home in less than an hour from that point.

[11] I listened to the game driving home from just south of Lake George, and I agree it's harsh when you have to switch off from 104.5 in Albany. I hope you missed the traffic at the bottom of the Thruway.

[7] [10] Thanks dudes. I am a sick Cohen Bros. fan, but missed that one. I heard it was not so hot. But I have seen most of their work and I think Blood Simple is one of the finest movies I have ever seen.

Actually, fatherhood has made it difficult to go to "adult" movies. I have seen every Pixar and most animated films released in the last 9 years and my daughter (now 9) is mature enough to see King Kong, Sherlock Holmes and Super 8.

Anywhoo, was it worth the 20 bucks?

Listened to the game in the car on the drive home from Lake George. In the Albany area, the Yanks are broadcast in FM, and the sound is great. The drone of the crowd is almost symphonic, and even John and Suzyn sound more "live" and pleasant.

Except for the early run futility, an exciting taut game. Isn't Ivan Nova a revelation? Calm and savvy beyond his years, and while it is unfair to compare him to others on the staff (AJ) his demeanor on the mound is one of a winner. Getting out of that no outs, man on 2nd and 3rd situation (and picking up Grandy and Swish) in the fifth inning was the pivotal point of the game. Nova is a smart guy too... with his basic English skills can make salient points in interviews. If I was interviewed in Spanish, not much more could be said than the sky is blue, and lo siento.

He deserves a regular spot in the rotation now and in the PS We could be looking at the AL rookie of the year.

A Serious Man takes place in the suburbs of Minnie, which is where the Coens' grew up. In fact, I don't know that the location is mentioned in the movie but I just assume that's where it is because that's where Joel and Ethan were raised. So I used stills for the entire weekend against the Twins, you know, just cause.

For Staten Island yesterday, Tyler Austin got two singles.
And a home run.
And three doubles.

6 for 6, pretty good, even for a Yankee 3rd baseman.

Tyler is 19, by the way.

[7] I agree that standing there watching their handiwork has cost them extra bases. So irritating. Where is the hustle?

[6] Fun movie, a cultural statement on American Jewry in '70s Midwest. Something the Coen's know firsthand. It was semi autobiographical. Great dialogue.

[6] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1019452/

Alex has been posting stills from A Serious Man for a few days now. A recent Coen bros. movie.

[0] Curtis does not get that HR if he is not sprinting on contact. Another reason to love the guy, even when he crushes one, he sprints until the ball clears the wall and the umps finger is circling.

So many Yanks have lost bases while standing there watching the ball hit the wall. Soriano, Arod and Cano were the worst offenders, but a lot of players do it.

From the very end of the game thread:

197 Chyll Will ~ Aug 21, 2011 7:35 pm
Wowzers, Mo's at 33 saves? Ya think there's a legit shot at 50? I think maybe 45 at best, but 50 would just beat all...

198 Alex Belth ~ Aug 21, 2011 9:09 pm
I think he gets 40 but not 45.

If Mo gets to 45 saves, then he ends the regular season as the all-time saves leader, FWIW.
