Bento is usually translated as “boxed lunch.” According to Wikipedia, the original meaning was “convenience.” It’s common takeout food (or even eat-in) now, but originally was a lunch packed in a box by a housewife for her husband to take to work.

I’m not in the midwest. I’m in upstate NY. Came here to go to college, and ended up staying.
