Get Wilkinson's here in small, green glass bottles. Dry or white, either is great. Perfect with a bit of vodka and a lime on a sweltering Tokyo summer evening.

Jon, you might try making your own. I used to do it -- I used to brew beer, too, and some of the brewing equipment is useful. (Home made ginger ale has a little of that fire, but the alcohol content is very low.

(Or you could add a little rum to the Canada Dry.)

My favorite is Thomas Kemper Ginger Ale, but I rarely see it when I'm shopping. Unless I hit the local beverage distributor. So, sadly, I generally have Seagram's or Canada Dry in the house.

When it comes to ginger beer, either Fentiman's or Barritt's Ginger Beer, if you can find them. Gosling's version is too sweet.
