Bard is a very good pitcher, by the way, but he became a head case in the second half of last season. He could snap back and be great, or he could be a disaster. (Also Jencks was supposed to be able to fill the role, but maybe not so much.)

I think Papelbon will be excellent for the Phillies. But, he’s (about to turn) 31. And no, Yankee fans, closers do not just keep getting better as they get older, despite what you’ve been led to believe!

Can’t wait for the Philly phans to show him their non-brotherly love side upon his first stumble. The Dancer will crumble like that zucchini bread in the previous post.

On the Boston tip, Bard is far from automatic and the 9th inning will be tense all season for their fans. Should be fun.

Yeah whatever. The phils will improve their save percentage by 5% as Lee and Halladay get older and lose in the playoffs. Meanwhile Bard will do well as a closer but the 8th inning role will get interesting in boston.

Philly and boston are the nasty fan capitols of the world.
