A penny less than a 300 million budget is an insult to their fans. The Yankees cannot walk away from this offseason without at least Pujols, Cespedes, Darvish, and Wilson. That's the minimum. And then you have to try to trade all the kids for Mauer and I guess we could settle for Teix at DH. But it would be a shame to let Fielder sign elsewhere. They wouldn't have been able to pay the roster or pay for the new ballpark. Any family nonsense like you've seen with the Dodgers or the death of Bill Davidson and sale of the Pistons (with a bloated roster frozen in amber as the widow tried to make a sale) and the Yankees could be on a fast track to the CBS ownership days.
