[7] nice man. i don't think i realized peter green wrote "black magic woman." huh.

yeah, what ever happened to green? did he kill himself, or something? he has the same b-day as my father, who is also batshit crazy! : o

[8] i'm actually not a big allman's guy; i'm friends with a few of the members and very close with immediate family. i'm not a big fan of the band, though i think they're excellent. i have a few of their cd's in my collection, but not many and don't know a lot of their music.

i'm not a grateful dead fan, in the least. i can stomach a few songs off certain albums, but that's it. probably haven't even listened to them this millennium...

[6] Hey - also, since I know you're an Allmans guy - ever heard the 2/11/70 Grateful Dead show from Fillmore East with The Allmans & Peter Green sitting in? Fun to listen to the jams and pick out Duane, Jerry & Peter.

[6] Yeah, like straightjacket crazy. What a waste. Check out the lone album he cut with Mayall after he replaced Clapton in the Bluesbreakers, "A Hard Road." That's got Green's instrumental, "The Supernatural" on it. Carlos Santana was a big fan - named an album after it (and of course covered Green's "Black Magic Woman").

[3] i'm a JJ fanatic, so his version wins for me. the link you sent is really great. i'm by no means a fleetwood authority, but i definitely dug this.

glad you saw the L&L tour, it was excellent. the dvd still stands up. Joe will be releasing a Duke Ellington project next year, amongst some other goodies.

[2] I saw Jackson on that tour - was it Radio City Music Hall? It's good, but it still can't touch the Mac, if you ask me.

BIG fan of Green-era Mac, especially the period with Green & Danny Kirwan. Amazing, underrated stuff. The "Live at the Boston Tea Party" sets will melt your ears.
