[1] It's no sure thing that all teams have something worth trading to begin with, never mind if they're willing to trade what they do have. You can't force anyone to make a trade because they haven't done so in a while. Maybe he's overcompensating a little for all that George Steinbrenner had done while he was in the organization, but it would be interesting to know the other potentially big deals he's turned down and why.

I also think the perception of Cash and the Yanks is that of a rich kid asking all the other kids on the block to make change of a hundred dollar bill. Depending on who you ask, of course, he's likely to end up losing that hundred altogether if he's not really careful.

The deeper into the Winter we go, the more reasonable the deals become. Over then next 4 or 5 years, our lineup will be expensive, getting older and likely less productive. If we keep Swish and Grandy, they will be more expenisve. Robbie, Phil, Joba, D-Rob, Nuney and other (current) kids will cost more.

I'm not crying poverty for the Yankees, but I think you'll see Cashman be very careful over the middle of this decade. We will get some salary relief from our new Closer and SS, but I think you will see that Cashman is not going to just throw money around.

Two trades in the last 12 months--and both minor deals--is a pretty sad ledger.

If Cashman goes another winter without adding a frontline starter (whether it's by trade or free agency), he's going to hear a lot more about his lack of trading.

I can understand his point about some of the newer GM's being ridiculous in their demands, but there are 29 teams out there. I find it hard to believe that Cashman can't find a trading partner somewhere.
