[8] I've been to Millbrook. Very nice, but a little overrun with weekend affluence. Laid back version of East Hampton.

I hope you returned the bicycle?

[7] Ever been through Millbrook? Nice little antique village in the middle of woods and farmland. Both Daryl Hall and Mary Tyler Moore live in the vicinity among others. I used to work in nearby Dover Plains and the LOOP bus would go through the village, then I had to walk two miles to the job site. I had to catch the bus in the village to get home; one night I missed the last bus and was faced with a twenty-mile hike home. I went back to the village and discovered a cheap mountain bike parked on the sidewalk... what providence. I was reciting Beastie Boys lyrics on the way back home.

There's a Harney and Son's Tea shop and lunch room in Millerton, NY in Dutchess County. I had no idea (but should have known) that it is part of the Harney tea empire. Nice place, good food and quirky but pleasant service when we were there.

Something about sipping tea and eating sandwiches in a tony but still authentic village on a beautiful day in the Berkshire foothills.

On a baseball note, Millerton is the home town of HOFer Eddie Collins.

What's weird is that I assumed it was a British company. But the woman at the store told me, nope, they are from Connecticut. Go figure.

Harney's is off-the-meter good. I sent a gift package to a friend of mine for Christmas last year and she was in love. My sister swears by them and Republic of Tea. If you haven't, you have to try their chais and jasmine teas...

2) Yeah, they opened a snooty shop in Soho. But they let you taste some of the product so it's worth popping in if you are in the neighborhood.

Ah Harneys. Really good tea. For something with a little more heft, try Harneys East Frisian blend. Glorious with milk and sugar.
