At the very least he was a big part of 2009, regardless of what some would like to insist 3 years after the fact, and I never got the feeling that he phoned it in while he was struggling. It was a terrible contract from Day 1, but at least a terrible contract that netted you a championship and three seasons of 185+ innings pitched. That's not worthless.
