[5] Yeah

"Garvey discovered in July 1988 that Moulton was pregnant with his child, a pregnancy Garvey subsequently contended was intentional on Moulton's part but without his consent."

Well you could always wrap it up or keep it parked.

6) Good point. I think the stuff Cyndi talks about it compelling and far more honest than anything you see on reality tv.

Also, back in the mid eighties, maybe this kind of thing was a bigger deal. Now, isn't it pretty much a given that most celebrities are pretty screwed up folks who sacrifice all sort of humanity and intimacy to achiever their goals?

This was the first time I ever read it in full after hearing about it for so long and seeing blurbs of it here and there over the years. Beautifully written, but yeah you definitely feel (even after all these years) like you're intruding on something you really shouldn't be seeing.

I remember hearing a story a few years ago about how Garvey's daughter, presumably the baby in this story, said she felt her father had a slight sociopathic streak in him. She claimed he signed his Christmas cards to she and her siblings "Love, Steve Garvey."

That's probably the worst Jordan piece I've read. 30 years out, you have to wonder what the Garveys did to merit such a nasty portrait. They were shallow and annoying, but certainly not deserving of this.
