During the 5 years I lived in Virginia Beach, when I used to drive from there back up to NY for the holidays, I'd leave my apartment usually between 4 & 5 AM and drive up the Eastern Shore. Driving across the span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel when the sun is just starting to crack on the horizon was a beautiful sight.

...of course, hitting the Verrazano Bridge and looking to my left and seeing the NYC skyline marked the home stretch of my travels and I always looked forward to seeing that!

That's when all the trucks get to be on the road with the least amount of traffic and speed regulations, plus they often have a time limit to get from A to B.

That $12 toll for cars has to really stink. At least you got a picturesque view for it.

That's great. I remember once taking a car service from the Bronx to Newark airport at 5 in the morning or something crazy like that. It was still dark but the bridge was packed with big trucks, and they were zooming. It was surreal.
