SUCH a great write up. I’m planning to take Jazz Jr I the park this spring for his first catch. No chance of him abandoning the Yankees as they’re all he knows in MLB. No conflict with his Yakult Swallows hat either.

Jon, I feel for you and your son. In 1973, when I was all of 6, my entire family were Mets fans. Diehard Mets fans. My mother had been a Dodgers fan, but she picked up the Mets after the Dodgers moved out west. My father was indifferent, but all my older siblings and my cousins were Mets fans.

I chose to root for the Yankees. Because…fuck them.

Yeah, I think I made the right choice.

[1] If not the Yanks, is there a less threatening team than the Pirates? And I suspect with some further exposure, he might be persuaded that the yanks are where it’s at. But in the meantime, Pittsburgh is now our family NL team.

Hey, Jon. This was fantastic write up. That sounds like one helluva day. I was late meeting a friend for lunch because I was’t going to miss Jorge’s first pitch. When I showed up at the mexican joint the bar tv was tuned to mtv. Fortunately, the remote control was within arms reach so I turned it to Yes. Just in time to see Swish’s double and then Alex’s homer. The stadium looked great today and so did Kuroda. Then I had the chance to catch Sterling’s Grandyman can shtick on the radio. Great Home Opener. Happy Baseball! And as big fan of Pittsburgh, your eldest ain’t too bad. : )
